ML goes o11y

As mentioned last week, exciting times. We're seeing more and more Machine Learning/NLP applied to observability: check out Honeycomb's Natural Language Querying with Query Assistant and Observe's OPAL Co-Pilot! (Powered by GPT).

OpenTelemetry hands-on

Observability with OpenTelemetry by Nam Thang is a nice hands-on piece that shows you open source tooling in action. Thanks!

Advanced sampling

I'm super happy to be able to share that we made advanced sampling now available in AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT). You can now do tail sampling with the ADOT collector!

OTel log ingestion

Learn from Nicholas Blumhardt about OpenTelemetry log ingestion preview in Seq, a self-hosted search, analysis, and alerting server built for structured log data.

Traces-logs correlation

Traces to logs correlation in AWS with Node.js by Mickaël Derriey is a short but hands-on example of showing correlation in action. Excellent work!

That was it for this edition of the o11y newsletter. Feel free to share news items with me via Twitter—DMs are open if you like to share something in private. Stay safe and hope to see you around next week!
