CloudWatch open standards¶
Very glad about this, we've been working on it now for a bit and last week we launched it: support for OTLP ingest of metrics and PromQL for dashboards and CloudWatch alarms, either native in the AWS console or via Grafana. Read Introducing OpenTelemetry & PromQL support in Amazon CloudWatch, by my wonderful colleague Rodrigue Koffi to learn more about it and see it in action.
Tip for OTel success¶
The always well informed Nicolas Fränkelheck shared One tip for successful OpenTelemetry projects. Great read, thank you!
OpenTelemetry viewer¶
There can never be enough options for OTel tooling, recently stumbled upon a very nice looking local OTel UI client, check out Juan Mesaglio's article I built a lightweight OpenTelemetry viewer for local development.
LLM observability¶
Observability in the context of LLM-powered apps is not optional. Good article on that topic by Vprprudhvi: The Complete Guide to LLM Observability with OpenTelemetry.
OpenTelemetry collector linter¶
Another great tool I stumbled upon is starkross/augur, an opinionated linter for OTel collector configurations using Rego as its rule set language.
