OTel updates¶
This past week was an amazing one for the OpenTelemetry project, from most generic to most specific things:
- OpenTelemetry graduates! After 6+ years and with the help of all of you.
- Participate in the ongoing conversation on the OpenTelemetry Support Maturity Model.
- OTel collector component donation: processor/genainormalizer, very timely.
Observability at the edge¶
Kasper Borg Nissen published a really insightful article called Observability at the Edge: OpenTelemetry in Ingress Controllers.
InfluxDB alternatives¶
5 InfluxDB Alternatives in 2026: An Honest Comparison by Ignacio Van Droogenbroeck compares time series DBs.
Icinga goes OTel¶
Blerim Sheqa wrote Icinga 2 Meets OpenTelemetry: Native Metrics Export in v2.16, showing that even tools that have been around for a while can support and benefit from the telemetry standard that OTel has become in 2026.
ClickHouse and OTel¶
Build a ClickHouse Telemetry Pipeline with OpenTelemetry and GlassFlow by Armend Avdijaj is a nice hands-on piece on the topic.
OpenLIT¶
Via Bright Coding, read OpenLIT: OpenTelemetry-Native Observability for AI Engineering to make sure you stay-up-to-date on developments in this space.
OTel signals from first principles¶
OpenTelemetry signals from first principles by Ashley Mannix is a short but very useful article, providing a framework for how to think about the telemetry signals.
